Magnolia soulangeana

The quintessential Spring flowering Magnolia that is the crowning jewel of many gardens. On bare branches at the start of spring, large goblet shaped flowers emerge, looking almost as if they are floating. This delicate display is an iconic image that typifies Springtime in Japanese and traditional gardens across the globe. The flowers are mauve-pink at their base, fading along the length of the petal to be almost white at the tip. In Sumer the dense canopy of large leaves is perfect for creating shade in smaller spaces, reaching a height of 7m by 5m wide. Leaves turn gold in Autumn, making this a stunning tree for all seasons.
